All About Class 2

Why is Class 2 the Ultimate diamond?

In Class 2 we nurture the development of self esteem and confidence so that a “can do” attitude abounds inside and outside the classroom.  There is always a buzz and energy in Class 2, a class where pupils relish taking risks, having a go and being the best that they can be!

In Class 2 we work hard at developing life skills- improving our Literacy and Numeracy skills whilst having lots of fun too!  With our inspiring cross curricular topic based projects such as “An Island Home” “Marple- past, present and future”, throughout the day all have a chance to thrive and showcase their talents in all areas of the curriculum. Opportunities to be hands on, creative and use our imagination are interwoven with special challenges throughout the day.

In Class 2 positive relationships flourish all around.  We aspire to create a happy and caring place where everyone feels special.  The children in Class 2 are effortlessly cheerful, caring and compassionate individuals.  Stemming from the Christian Values that school promotes the children have respect for one and all members of our school community.

The children are polite and well mannered and a positive atmosphere pervades throughout the school.

Children respect one another and are quick to thank and support each other.

“Tommy and Jordan are our playground buddies they help me and everyone to be happy and have friends”. Lauren

Class 2 is an exciting year where children learn to be more independent as well as developing positive team work skills through group work and investigations.  Class 2 learn to take responsibility for their learning, classroom and targets.  On a Friday we have “Brains on time” where we reflect on what we have learnt and achieved as a class and what we want to work on and improve next week.  In Class 2 we spend considerable time improving our Speaking and Listening skills in order to be able to articulate well with our talk partners, sharing ideas regarding our weekly talk topics.

“I love the dice game and storytelling using crazy characters and strange settings!” Luke

Class 2 are always busy, busy, busy with everyone involved in their learning through practical tasks, interactive teaching and resources- you will usually spot us on the Interactive whiteboard, spelling using mini whiteboards and pens, phonics flips, magnetic letters and boards as well as getting our mental maths questions correct on our number fans!

To help us to learn we have some special rules in Class 2 - good looking, good listening, good lips, good turn taking and of course good thinking.  All these requests have an action and symbol to support all children in understanding how to be a sensational learner!

Class 2 have a happy board- (which is usually filled with a long, long list of superstars in class), a star of the day, challenge wizard of the day and try of the day.  We take pride in all our successes which are celebrated all around our classroom with wonderful work on displays.

“I like being chosen to sit on the stripy, soft, velvet Tigers because they make me feel proud and they are fluffy and feel nice!” Louis
We are lucky to have such a dedicated team of teaching assistants who go that extra mile to make Class 2’s wealth of experiences as enjoyable, inspirational and memorable as the children deserve.

The breathtaking, panoramic views of our school field from the window create an impressive, spectacular backdrop that we can assure you is difficult to match!

As a school (and especially in Class 2) we welcome all members of our community and seek to use the skills they have to support our children’s learning and experiences.
Parent helpers (Artists) supported our project to collage creations on Flowers by Georgia O’ Keefe.  We like to be helped and in return like to help others!

Highlights of the week…

Big Writing day - fairy lights on, blinds closed, tranquil peaceful music, absolute silence, marking our own work using highlighters!

French with Madamemoiselle Bonhomme who jumps around the classroom with puppets, singing silly chants and doing some rather strange actions!  We take the register in a variety of languages as we are multi lingual in Class 2!
