At All Saints’, the Head teacher and the Governing Body work in close partnership in sharing the responsibility for the strategies running of the school.
The Governing Body consists of Parent Governors, Staff Governors, Local Authority Governors, Community Governors, Foundation Governors and Associate Members.
Each Governor is either selected or appointed and has a term of office of 4 years. There are elected position within the Governing Body and these are elected are an annual basis (e.g. Chair person of the Whole Governing Body or the committees).
The Whole Governing Body meet on at least a termly basis as do most of the Committees.
The Committees are as follows:
- Marketing Committee
- Resourcing Committee
- Curriculum Committee
Committees of the Governing Body
- Marketing Committee The Marketing Committee agrees on a yearly action plan to promote the school, it’s achievements and the fund raising events that the school and School Association run. The successes and actions undertaken are fed back to the Resourcing Committee on a termly basis.
- The Resourcing committee The Resourcing committee meets at least once a term and provides guidance and assistance to the Head and Governing Body on all matters relating to the Budget, Finance and Staffing. It is the committees role to review various policies and procedures such as the whole school pay policy, staffing structure, equal pay opportunities and many others. The group works with the Head to produce the annual budget in plan and monitors the spending of the agreed budget. The resourcing committee also looks at the staffing and agrees the focus and placement of staff in line with the School’s development focus. This committee is also responsible for ensuring that the school, staff and premises comply with Local Authority Guidelines. The group takes reasonable steps to ensure that the building, resources, equipment and materials are safe for everyone to use. This committee conducts annual safety checks on school equipment Including: electrical equipment, gates and doors, buildings, fences, P.E equipment etc. Any issues found during these checks are rectified either by school or an outside agency.
- The Curriculum Committee The Curriculum Committee is responsible for making sure all aspects of the National Curriculum are followed and that targets are set and met. This committee provides information to the governing body about how the curriculum is taught, evaluated and resourced. The group is responsible for ensuring the curriculum is broad, balanced, inclusive and that policies are reviewed whenever appropriate.
- Curriculum/link Governors Some of the Governing Body are linked to class teachers / subject co-ordinators. These Governors visit school approximately 3 times per year and work with the classes and co-ordinators. The Governors then feedback their findings to the Whole Governing Body or any other interested parties e.g. Local Authority Advisors or School Self Evaluation.
The Governing Body of All Saints’ School is focused on the continuous development and improvement of the school. We are all part of a voluntary workforce that is dedicated in helping the school to the provide the best possible education for all the
children and support for all our stakeholders.
